【摘要】:Thelow-temperature,low-shear-rateviscosityofautomatictransmissionfluids,gearoils,torqueandtractorfluids,andindustrialandautomotivehydraulicoils(seeAnnexA4)areofconsiderableimportancetotheproperoperationofmanymechanicaldevices.Measurementoftheviscometricpropertiesoftheseoilsandfluidsatlowtemperaturesisoftenusedtospecifytheiracceptanceforservice.Thistestmethodisusedinanumberofspecifications.Thistestmethoddescribeshowtomeasureapparentviscositydirectlywithouttheerrorsassociatedwithearliertechniquesusingextrapolationofexperimentalviscometricdataobtainedathighertemperatures.Note18212;Lowtemperatureviscosityvaluesobtainedbyeitherinterpolationorextrapolationofoilsmaybesubjecttoerrorscausedbygelationandotherformsofnon-Newtonianresponsetospindlespeedandtorque.OnlyinthecaseofknownNewtonianoilsatthetemperaturedesiredisinterpolationacceptableforthepurposeofcalibratingthespindleandglasscell(seeAnnexA1).1.1ThistestmethodcoverstheuseofBrookfieldviscometersofappropriatetorqueforthedeterminationofthelow-shear-rateviscosityoflubricants.Thetestisappliedovertheviscosityrangeof500to900000mPax00B7;swithinalowtemperaturerangeappropriatetothecapacityoftheviscometerhead.1.2Therangeofviscosityusedtogeneratetheprecisiondataforthistestmethodwasfrom1000to900000mPax00B7;s.AppendixX4listsanotherinterlaboratorystudythatspecificallytargetedhydraulicfluidrangingfrom500to1700mPax00B7;s.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3.1ThetestmethodusestheSIunit,milliPascal-second(mPax00B7;s),astheunitofviscosity.(1cP=1mPax00B7;s).1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
